Awkard and Awesome: Blog Edition

We all have awkward blogging moments.

We all have awesome blogging moments.

Here are a few of mine...starting with awkward (it's always nice to get that one out of the way first):

• endless late night HTML editing, previewing and cursing when nothing is going right.
• not being able to find just the right background and {quietly} freaking out about it.
• spending too, too much time on the computer (essentially, my time on the computer begins when Toph goes to bed and ends when I can't hold my eyes open anymore...awkward.)
• random post from 2 years ago about my Wii avatar (OMG awkward)
• those feelings of inadequacy that creep up on me when I least expect it {who do you think you are? why are you doing this? you are so selfish; this should be for your son and you're taking it over...and on and on ((that was a little glimpse into my head, just so you know)}
• posting this picture of myself dressed as "The Cat in the Hat:"

I danced around and sang in this onstage at a PTA meeting.  

Now for the awesome:

• since creating my header, I've officially decided on the background I want (now I just need to learn how to design it)
• learned to create a signature.{see below}
• Mucho comment love.  (I love comments; I practically squeal when I get them.)
• Meeting lots of cool bloggies out there in the interwebs that I wish I could meet for realsies, because I know we'd have fun.
• my grab button

• reading through old posts of "My Husband Rocks" and being thankful that I wrote them down.  I'd forgotten this one!
• a series I'll be starting this weekend about my journey of crafting through tutorials.

Awkward and Awesome

gin is awkward:

• just now started brushing my son's teeth this week (please don't judge me).
• a little girl ran up behind me in a parking lot; I was sure she was a big man trying to rob me so I screamed bloody murder and scared the bejesus out of her and my baby.
• my kitten nurses a fluffy red blanket when she is trying to go to sleep.

• I STILL have not mailed out thank-yous from Toph's birthday party...rude.

gin is awesome:

• I created a button AND a signature with the help of a bloggy buddy,  Nina @ Momma Go Round.  You need to visit her site; seriously, she's having a fantastic giveaway right now.
• My friend Lauren posted a little something about me on her blog.  Made my day.
• I'm participating in the Shine Project.  Are you?
• My boy and I are going to the library this weekend and I'm going to check out The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

For now, why I am awkward AND awesome:

I bought breakfast tacos for my team at school for our staff development and proceeded to get lost on the way to school to deliver them.   Yes, it was in the same neighborhood that I drive through everyday, I happened to think I could just just take a shortcut.  No dice.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Awkward:

• Walking around like an angry rhino all day yesterday because I lost my glasses:

  I don't like walking around blind, it makes me grumpy.  Almost as grumpy as when I lose my glasses.

•  I have two cats.  This morning, the big, curmudgeon, Pippen, threw up all over the floor.  The little cute one, Merry, decided to help me clean it up.  Imagine this:

  But, vomit.  Awkward.

(If you can tell me what famous literary characters my cats are named, you are awkward and awesome.)

•  I have been so, so busy at work.

 I don't like opening my planner...but it seems every time I open my email something new needs to go in there...

March 22 was a weird day...a lot of things were planned, then moved, then canceled.

I just need to put my big girl panties on because it's going to be that way until the "test" is over with.

Awesome:

• Toph is saying "hi" and "bye" at random and totally cute times.

• My husband is awesome.  I love him so.  He should probably be a permanent fixture in the awesome column

Awkward AND Awesome:

Postpartum hair loss has caused some wonky hair regrowth, which means it looks like I have some form of mange (this is the awkward part):

But AWESOME part is that not only is my hair growing back, it's growing back BROWN!  For awhile I thought I'd be gray.

Awkward and Awesome: Spring Break Edition

Awkward:

• I know! This was under the awesome side last week.  In truth, this dress fit like a glove.  However, the skirt is very full and a little too short for my liking.  When I order something online that I don't like immediately, I wear it around for awhile to see if it grows on me.  I was rocking it around the house and got some nice compliments from hubs.  I had to fetch something from outside and that's when things got...awkward. You see, the above dress is short and full, so when a breeze catches it, that baby flies right up.  And that's just what happened to me.  A breeze caught it just right and...I flashed my neighbors, Marilyn Monroe style but with no sex appeal.  Now, my neighbors don't look me in the eye.  This is not something that can happen at Toph's party.

• Being a slacker in the finger nail cutting department and letting Topherboy slice his pretty face open. Um, he's still pretty cute though.  It's a scientific fact.

• Finding out I have two cavities on Monday while at the dentist.  Actually, this topic is another post in and of itself.  But let's just say the dentist had a judgmental tone that I didn't appreciate.  (I also didn't appreciate the huge needle he jammed in my cheek to numb me, so yeah, we're not on speaking terms right now.  Not that we ever were, but...I think he knows I'm upset.)

Awesome:

• Having family in town.  Matt's parents from Iowa are here and my dad comes in today.  Matt's mom, stepdad and grandma will be here from down south and my mama is coming over too.  

• Today is my mama's birthday. 

I love that lady.  Good mama, good person.  Plus, since she was born on St. Patty's Day, she's my lucky charm.

•   Spring Break!  A lovely little preview of summer break, only a lot cooler.

• Getting this party all planned.  I'm so excited to share ideas from our little DIY party.  Mostly, I'm excited to share my baby's first birthday with our loved ones.

Now, one that is both awkward & awesome:

• Today is the Thursday of Spring Break.  Last year on the Thursday of Spring Break, my water broke at 4:36pm.  I proceeded to get up, leaking everywhere, and make my hubs some sandwiches so he wouldn't starve at the hospital.

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Let's start with the awesome, shall we?

--This dress:

Bought it on Alloy last week for the express purpose of wearing it at Toph's party.

--Being on the news. At first I was so nervous about it but seeing my kids at school and having them all tell me how awesome it was to see me, well, it was worth it.

--Spring Break! Eyes up here, Michael. (If you can name the show from which this quote comes, you're awesome.)

--Walking babies.  I love being greeted by a baby who's walked to me.  Video to come!

--Sifting through pics and finding this gem:

 

This is one awesome kid, folks.  

--Merry the kitten loves me the best.  

Now for the awkward:

--My eyebrows have not been threaded in a long time:

The lovely lady above used to get those babies threaded every four weeks.  She now has bags under her eyes that look like that and eyebrows that rival this guy:

--Having an uncomfortable confrontation with a coworker...first thing Monday morning.

--Accidentally pinching Toph's finger in the toilet seat (while I was sitting on it...sorry baby!)because I can't get a minute alone to do my thing...

--Watching Merry the kitten play one cat clean-up crew after Toph eats and not doing a thing about it...in fact this thought crossed my mind..."one less thing for me to do..."

--Drinking 8 cups of coffee before leaving for work yesterday.

And now, this one belongs in the awkward AND awesome column:

--Bold as brass wearing my favorite electric blue sandals sans pedicure.  Today marked the first day of wearing open toed shoes since November and I wasn't letting a little thing like an overdue pedicure get in my way.

*Yes, my big toe is that large.  I didn't edit it.
