Outfit Planner Dry Erase Board

Let's start with the inspiration, shall we?  It came from two places; one, Chrissy from Boerman Ramblings, who posted this simple and cute tutorial about how to turn a random frame into a dry erase board.

Did you know you can use a dry erase marker on glass?  I didn't!

The second place {of inspiration} was the sticker you see above.  It came with a scrapbooking kit I bought years ago in the hopes of becoming a phenomenal scrapbooker (in case you're wondering, that didn't work out). I kept the kit though and little by little, have been using the paper in it for different projects.  The quote on the sticker helps me remember to vary my wardrobe and to work with what I already have instead of always buying new.
Here's what you do to make a super easy outfit planner (or whatever you want).
Take an old frame that you're wanting to get rid of and give it a second chance!
First, take it apart.
*Here is where my mommy brain kicked in and I completely forgot to take pictures of covering the background.  I used paper Mod Podge and alternated colors for five days of the week and added M, T, W, R, and F for the days of the week.  I used two coats of Mod Podge for this part.
Next:
Then, mod podge your paper to the matting.  I didn't have paper that would fit perfectly around my frame, so there had to be seams.  I ended up camouflaging the seams with circles I cut it, but didn't think to take a picture of it (darn mommy brain).
You don't have to cut circles to cover your frame; you don't even have to use Mod Podge.  You could paint your frame.  I just thought circles added an aspect of whimsy to it.  They were a pain in the tail feather to cut and glue though.

The corners turned out to be not SO hard...
I just cut a small part of the circle to make it easy to fold down.

I sponged on two coats of matte Mod Podge.

There you have it; my DIY outfit planner.
Here's what it looks like on my wall:

Close up of the lettering on top.

I thought velcroing the marker to the side of the frame was quite brilliant; I know a little person who would find this in a heart beat and either chew on it or create his own DIY masterpiece.
Oh, and guess who doesn't plan her outfits on weekends?  A girl needs to mix it up a little!

What do you think??
Thanks Chrissy for the idea!

Cute. I don't really plan my outfits but I could do this for something else, it's a nice alternative to a plain 'ol white board.
I learned about dry erase on glass from Roqaya. She has a thing about coloring on the walls. I've tried different things, one of which was getting a white board and markers hoping she'd exhaust her creative energy on there, but she still heads for the walls every once and a while. Anyway, one day she decided to decorate the sliding glass door and when I saw it I really thought it was gonna take some scrubbing to get it off, and I was so happy when it came off with a swipe of my finger.
Thanks for the idea, I'm going to store it away for later.

WHOA! This is freaking awesome! Okay, I love that you used circles...and the colors are so cute and so you...whimsy..hehe!
You did an amazing tutorial...so adding this to my list. Maybe not for outfits but maybe for dinners? or pictures to take for the week? or i dunno...this could be for anything. YOU ROCK!

I'll also make sure I stay away from your review of The Help if I see it soon. Don't want to spoil it. I am so excited to start it. I have such a place in my heart for that time and those situations. Not a bleeding heart or anything...I just can't understand it ya know. Hard to imagine that ACTUALLY being how it was.

Hope you have a good Easter!

This is SO COOL! My little one is too wee for this yet, but what a cool idea. I always set up my clothes the week before when I was a kid so this kind of thing would have made me feel so cool!

Snap, that is awesome! I could use this... I usually choose my outfit the night before, but if I'm in a funk, I start getting that "I've got nothing to weaaar feeling." Then I'm standing there staring into the closet forever, feeling all sad.

Very cute! I love the colors. Good think scrapbooking didn't work out, haha. I am the same way. A rack load of paper and no motivation and/or time to do anything with it.

I just bought a frame on Saturday to make something similar for our kitchen. Now I want to go home and get started on it!
