24 Weeks! Lulu's 24th Week in the Womb

Today I am 24 weeks pregnant, which means that we survived Thanksgiving and which means that the countdown to Christmas has officially begun. How many teaching days you ask? Oh, that would be 15.

This week Lulu's lungs are developing the branches of the respiratory tree that will produce surfactant, which will help her lungs fill with air upon her first breath. There is a song by the White Stripes that I think about when I think of Lulu breathing, it goes "Every breath that is in your lungs is a tiny little gift to me." Oh my, I love this child so much.

In the outside world, Lulu's nursery is 99% finished. She has her daddy, Nana and Papa to thank for that. The day after Thanksgiving, those three got busy in her room, putting up the wainscoting and the chair rail. Grandma, Aunt Emily and I put together the changing table. Hubs and I will put the crib together later today. Everyone is so excited for her arrival...I can't express how happy I am that her nursery was a family effort. We couldn't have done it without them.

We also bought the car seat this week. Both of the cars we have right now have a special place in our hearts, they really do. They get good gas mileage and have endured many a trip. However, neither are baby friendly, mine being two door and hubs' being very old. This means, that in order for us to install our car seat, we will be looking at new cars soon. We're going to sell hubs' car just because it's older than mine. We're leaning toward getting a new Subaru Outback, as they are hubs' very favorite car in the world. Neither of us are fans of big SUVs, but we don't want the baby in a tiny car either. So, the Outback seems just right for us. This in an endeavor that we won't undertake until after the New Year, so we still have some time to think.

I truly can't believe that November is coming to a close and that I only have 16 weeks left of this pregnancy. (Maybe 17, both hubs and I were a week late.) Before I got pregnant this would have seemed like a long time to me...not so much anymore! We have a lot to do before she gets here.
