WIWW: Two Days, Four Outfits (And One Very Cute Baby)

Over the last two days, I have worn four outfits. Want to see them?

This is how I kicked it Memorial Day. No makeup, frizzy hair, no jewelry and a simple, comfortable getup. It was awesome. We played outside, rolled around in the grass and had a great day.

 Tuesday was rather busy.

First outfit of the day is my normal outfit, one I would wear to school any given day.

Next up, you see me dressed very, very casually. This is because I voluntered to be in the Perfect Attendance Dunk Booth for my school. All the kids with perfect attendance got to have their crack at dunking me under water. I took lots of baths. Some of those kids have a real future in baseball or softball.

This is what proceeded to happen to me about 35 times, no joke.

If you look very closely behind me, you can see Veronica, who sponsored our Scentsy giveaway! She was a good sport and got dunked too.

Last outfit of the day was my dress up outfit to our school's awards ceremony. I love, love this outfit. What other color would you pair this skirt with? I'm comfortable with black but any other color I just don't know.

Oh, the Wonderful Things A Belt Can Do...

I was so not going to do this link up this week.

I have been feeling blah and uninspired in the wardrobe department and when Nina charged us with the task of stepping outside the box, I was not ready to step up.

That is until I saw her post this morning and inspiration threw me a hail Mary.  You see, I have a blouse in my closet that looks like a sack.  I bought it years ago when I was watching Project Runway and saw the designers create this blouse for Sarah Jessica Parker's (my favorite style icon) now defunct line, Bitten.  I just  had to have it.

Have you ever heard of Bitten?  Steve and Barry's is the retailer that carried it, also now defunct, probably because ALL the items sold there were only $8.99.

I had no idea how to wear this blouse until I read Nina's blog this morning:

See what I mean?  It's a sack.

 I don't know if you can tell, but this top has a scarf sewn into it, so like Nina, I just threw my woven belt over it and voila:

I think the belted scarf rocks!

It has pockets! (Please ignore my supremely messy classroom.)

Here I am pondering the messiness of my classroom; it's packing time.

RMRS: Mother's Day Edition

I hope everyone had as great a Mother's Day weekend as I did. Got my hair done, my face scrubbed and my hands moisturized. My hubs cooked breakfast twice for me this weekend (my favorite meal of the day and yet too many days I go without it). I even slept in until 8:30am Saturday. Toph was amazing this weekend; his teething bout seems to have passed and he was nothing but smiles, hugs and mischief. He is giving hugs now, which coincidentally turn my heart into putty for him to mold in the palm of his hand.

On Mother's Day, we went to Michael's and Lowe's where we bought supplies for upcoming projects we're working on around the house.

That is coffee I have in my hand; I LOVED all the coffee shops down there. And yes, I look a tad different. Here is what the dress looks like on me now, almost three years and one baby later.

Since we were eating banana pancakes, we set 'ol Jack Johnson up next to Toph so he could jam out  to the song "Banana Pancakes" while eating his delicious breakfast.

Who loves a good sale?? I know, me too! Have you ever heard of Shopstyle? It's this revolutionary site that compiles all your favorite stores' merchandise and when you need, let's say, a shirt dress, you can search all the shirt dresses from all the stores to see which you love best. You lose the hassle of hopping site to site; it's all in one place!

The best part though, is that you can push a little button called "Sale Alert" and when the item you love goes on sale, this little app will email you and let you know.

When I saw this beauty from The Limited a few months ago, I loved it but at $69.90 it was TOO expensive.

I clicked "Sale Alert" and forgot about it. A couple of weeks later, it let me know the price had been slashed to $38.00. Nope, still too much. I kept waiting. Just a little after that, the price had been cut to $17.00. Pair that with the 25% off coupon and I bought that little gem for $14.00 (plus tax and shipping).

A student gave me the flower in my hair as part of teacher appreciation week.

 I was so thirsty; south Texas is in the middle of a drought, so I just took a sip after watering the plants.

Don't you love my necklace? It's made the The Hammering Redhead and I was lucky enough to win it in a giveaway hosted by the always lovely Heather. It's seriously my favorite necklace and I've worn it everyday since I got it. I plan on ordering some gifts from The Hammering Redhead now.




I thought I could pull this off without the capris but I can't. Just couldn't do it. But you, my readers, I love y'all so you get to see the shirt dress sans capris. Too risque? Or am I worried for nothing?

What I Wore Wednesday: The Boring Edition

I was looking over these outfits I put together and was thinking...BORING!  What do you think?  Could I have done anything to have jazzed them up?

This outfit could have used a bright punch of color; I love the color of that blouse but paired with the capri trouser and neutral shoe, it just needs something. Opinions?

I love the combo of mustard yellow and blue.  I'm wearing my most favorite necklace and gladiator sandal, but by wearing the cardi I've taken the fun out of this fun blouse; y'all don't even get to see the best part.  The top is sort of weaved together and comes together at bottom of my neck.  However, I had to wear the cardi because this was a work outfit.  How could I have worn this differently?

Here's hoping next week's outfits will be better!!

Real Momma...Real Smile

Hubs and I got all gussied up and went out to celebrate our ten year anniversary. I liked what I was wearing, so of course, we took some pictures.

This is why I love these link-ups:  they challenge me.  I would never have thought to pair this combo, but I think it works!  It's like getting a new outfit but with clothes you already have.  What do y'all think of the scarf?

Here is the piece de resistance...

My boy and I; smiling like no tomorrow. The smile I have on my face is REAL. It is showing the kind of happiness that bubbles up down from your tummy, through your throat and out your mouth in the form of a real smile, they type that give you laugh lines.

I used to hate taking pictures of just myself; pre-mamahood I never would have participated in something like Real Momma, Real Style or WIWW. I didn't like how I looked. Now having lived through miracle of child birth and raising this child, I feel more beautiful than I ever have and I truly believe it shows.  I mean, look at that baby.  I grew him inside me.  He's half me.  If that's not something to feel great about, I don't know what is.
